Six Ways To Stay Creative When You Blog

On my last post, How To Push Through Writer’s Block, I discussed different ways writers can push through the daunting blinking cursor or blank page.

I have been blogging for two years and through that time I have kept a list on my desk on how to stay creative when blogging.

We all come to that moment when we get stuck in our writing. Blog writing can be rewarding but there are times when writer’s block will stop us dead in our tracks.

Here are the six ways on my desk to remain creative when blogging:

  1. Meditate And Clear Your Mind

Stress is a big factor that comes into play with writing. There can be many things on your mind at the moment and you can’t focus. Take a minute or two to yourself. Calm yourself and block everything out around you.

You can meditate if you like or go for a walk for some inspiration. Make sure to deal with pressing matters before you sit down to write. It will keep you from doing your best.

  1. Research And Be Up To Date

Look on the web for inspirational ideas. There are tons of blogs today. Look through the newspaper. It is important to know what the latest trend is.

You want to keep your readers entertained but also well informed of what’s going on. Once you get the facts down, then you can look into what you will write about. It is also a necessity to be well organised with all your material.

  1. Keep A Notebook And Pen At All Times

You never know when something big might hit you or where you will be at. Carry a small notebook around with you and a pen, or your tablet or phone, which ever you form of writing suits you.

Inspiration can come at the most awkward times. It only takes a moment to jot down a few things. It could mean the big break later on. You can jot down things for a post you are working on at the moment. You can also write down something that you think is interesting to visit later on.

Either way, you can’t remember everything. So write it down.

  1. Revisit Old Ideas

This is where those notes you wrote or typed down comes in handy.

Look through your notes. Is there something that you missed on an old post or is there something new? Go over all your notes for new ideas on new things.

If you’re anything like me, then there will be tons of ideas that you haven’t been able to touch on. It’s during those walks and meditation that great ideas pop up. There are also times when you see some while shopping or out with friends that you will want to come back to later.

  1. Surround Yourself With Creative People And Things

Creative minds tend to attract other creative minds. This is something that happens naturally. If you need to be around some creative people or things then look into the local meetings or seminars. There is always someone holding a meeting or conference somewhere.

If you aren’t into the public scene then jump on social media for some inspiration. You can also invite a good brainstorming friend over for dinner and a movie. Movies are another great place to pull some creative ideas from.

  1. Go Outside the Box

Everyone has their comfort zone. It is somewhere where you strive and feel the best. However, there are many things that catch people’s attention. You might find something else you are good at.

Step outside the box and go for the extraordinary to make a good post. It will bring something new and could bring more readers to your blog that wouldn’t have been there before. It’s always good to stretch yourself to the limit.

There are many things to do and practice to stay creative in your blog. The first thing to remember is that stress is a killer.

Calm yourself and try one of these ways to bring new ideas to the forefront.
