About

People of the Scattered Lands and Continents,

My name is Douglas W. T. Smith. I live on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

I have traveled far and wide; resided in towns far from my birthplace. I have a Bachelor of Arts – Creative Writing, Sociology, and English Literature.

Fantasy is where my passion lays.

I created this blog to build an online audience for my creative writing.

I am a self-published author. In 2021, I published, Shadow of the Wicked, which ranked in Amazon Top 5 List in Dark Fantasy and Sword and Sorcery eBooks in 2021. Hailing from Australia, the driest of any continent on earth other than Antarctica, I am one of the CORE authors for Of Metal and Magic Publishing with a debut core novel, ‘To Wield the Stars’, due in 2022.

Between writing and reading fantasy stories, I like to embark on adventures in nature with my wife, son, and beloved dog. If you want to get exclusive stories and content, or know when my next book will come out, visit his patreon.com/douglaswtsmith and sign up.

If you have any questions, enquiries, you want to discuss ideas and drafting; or you want a writing buddy, please contact me here.

Hopefully, you enjoy this journey as much as I do.

Douglas W. T. Smith.

  1. Hi Douglas, I aspire to being a writer and am enjoying the journey! I haven’t taken any courses or studies in writing but I have read a lot, and probably learned a lot from it. I created an author blog for myself this year, partly to ‘get my books out there’, but just as much to share writing thoughts and experiences. I look forward to following you! 🙂
My author blog if you’d like to have a look: https://judethompsonbooks.wordpress.com/

    • Hi Jude, that’s really good to hear! Reading alot is still an enormous part of the writing process. I will give your blog a follow now and I looked forward to reading your thoughts and seeing your progress on becoming an author 🙂 all the best and keep in touch.

      • Thanks Douglas, and thanks also for the follow. I’ll look forward to your posts here. I also do a lot of nature photography and use bits of it for illustrations. 🙂

      • danke schön…..for this wonderful music…i remember as a teenager to hear brass band groups in ghana on funerals played all kinds of music..and such was in the 70s….that lead me into listening american jazz music…later… meda ase paa….

      • The two services are virtually identical, asking users to check in via their cell phone at spots around town. Foursquare awards mayor-ships and badges for frequent use, while Gowalla scatters pins and offers items to drop at locations. (For a closer look at feature sets, check out Josh’s recent post.)

  2. Thank you for following me. I was going to say our writing genres seem to differ quite a bit but then I thought, hey, poetry could be fantasy and vice versa. So, here’s to both our journeys! 🙂

    • They are different but I still write a lot of poetry, it makes me think a certain moment and expand on that in a literal way.
It’s all still a form of creative writing at the end of the day too 😃
Here’s to both of our journeys! ✌️

  3. Hey! Thank you for the like and the follow! I’m a creative writer too (and, as you might guess from the post, I write mostly fantasy, though I’ve been branching out into poetry that isn’t explicitly speculative); I wish you the best 🙂

    • Hello! Thank you as well, I believe poetry and fantasy intertwine at different stages, depending on the protagonist 😃
Good luck to you too, and I’ll see you out there on the battlefield of publication ✌️😃

  4. Hi Douglas, many thanks for the follow on our Bikers’ Guide to the Dordogne’ 🙂 We don’t update it that much, it’s really just to offer a free tour-guide service to any visiting bikers!

  5. Thank you so mch for following. I am really glad you stopped by and commented on my post so I could discover your blog too. Excited to read your stuff! Take care!
